Over the last several months, you may have read in Scouting Magazine about an exciting new unit management software program that the Boy Scouts of America has invested in called SCOUTBOOK. The difference between SCOUTBOOK and other unit management software is that it is owned and supported by the Boy Scouts of America. It is designed to be used by your unit Advancement Chair and another adult that you designate. Youth members and their parents can use their smart phone or tablet to instantly see where they stand on working towards their next advancement. It does even more and, in short, it is very exciting!
The Glacier’s Edge Council is providing this software to you and all of our registered units at no charge. The annual $5,000 per year cost will be funded through your support of the Friends of Scouting campaign and our annual popcorn sale.
To begin using SCOUTBOOK, go to https://www.scoutbook.com/mobile/signup.asp. The access code was distributed to your unit leader at the April Roundtables. Those that did not attend were mailed a letter with their code. You will need this one-time code to begin the set-up process, and will create username and password that is unique to your unit. For detailed directions on how to create your new account, or to convert your existing account, go to www.glaciersedge.org and click on Advancement and then the link to SCOUTBOOK.
We hope that you find this a valuable tool to help alleviate some of the challenges you and your unit may experience with accurate record keeping, and allow you to focus more time on delivering the promise of adventure to our youth.
Thank you for all that you do for Scouting, but most of all, thank you for caring about kids!
