March Roundtable will be held on Thursday, March 7th, from 7:00 to 8:30 at the Elkhorn High School. What is Roundtable? Why attend? Roundtable is a monthly gathering of leaders for program information, training, personal support, camaraderie and FUN! It isn’t just another night out for Scouting – it is the one place you can get real help to make your job as a leader an easier one. There is leader-specific information for every leader – come and join us!
The March District Committee meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 13th, from 7:00 to 8:30 at the Rocky Rococo Restaurant in Whitewater. The District is finalizing what great activities we will provide this summer. Do you have some ideas? Come to the meeting and share them.
Life to Eagle Workshop will be held at Camp Indian Trails on March 20, 2013 from 6:30-8:30PM. All Life Scouts, Leaders and Parents are invited and encouraged to attend. Learn the ins and outs of the Eagle Process from start to finish. Get ideas for Eagle Service Projects, learn how to use the workbook and what to expect during the Board of Review. The Eagle Coordinators from your District will be in attendance for you to talk to. We normally have over 100 people in attendance so don’t miss out! No registration necessary.

Saturday, April 13th is a busy day! The 2013 Indian Trails & Southern Lakes Pinewood Derby will be held at Gordie Boucher Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Highway 14 and I-90, Janesville. Register your car between 10:00 and 11:30. The Scout Division Race will begin at 11:45. The Open Division Race immediately follows the Scout Race. Awards will be given after all races are complete. Registrations must be postmarked no later than April 5th and mailed to the Janesville Service Center, 2300 East Racine Street, Janesville, WI 53545. April 13th is also the Southern Lakes District Dinner. This dinner is for everyone in the district, including spouses and our 2012 Eagle Scouts, their families and leaders! Included with this email is a registration form. Consider sending all of your unit’s leaders as a thank you for all they have done this year. The highlight of this dinner is the presentation of the District Award of Merit to deserving Southern Lakes volunteers. The District Award of Merit is the highest award a district can bestow. At this time we are seeking nominations for those deserving volunteers. A nomination form is included with this email. Everyone Loves the Circus. The Baraboo Circus Heritage event is the weekend of May 17th-19th at the Sauk County Fairgrounds in Baraboo. Units can camp for the weekend, or come in for Saturday only. Your ticket includes admission to the Circus Heritage Museum and all of their circus and magic shows, including the Buffalo Bill Wild West Show, as well as all of our Scouting activities at the Fairgrounds. Take advantage of the BB Gun and Archery Ranges, check out the BadgerBots robotics and other exhibits in the STEM area, release some energy in the Bounce Houses, test your skill in the Minute-to-Win-It games, get a souvenir from the Blacksmith, race in the Pinewood Derby or BlastCar event, tour the Scout Museum, compete in the Dutch Oven Dessert or the Iron Chef Contest, and take part in the many varied activities and games. Among the featured entertainers are CMJ Raceway Motocross Races and Wood-Chopping/Saw-Screaming Action from US Timbersports Champion Carson Bosworth and his team. Cost is $17/person for the weekend or $15/person for Saturday only if registered by May 3rd. After May 3rd, tickets are $21/person for the weekend and $19/person for Saturday only.
