Scouting for Food is a council-wide food drive intended to assist local food pantries stock their inventories for the coming summer months. Traditionally, scout units sign up to participate in the drive by giving the council a unit commitment form that names a unit coordinator and requests a number of fliers to give to homeowners in a particular area that they have volunteered to cover. They then distribute the fliers to residential homes on a particular Saturday and come back a week later to pickup food. The 2012 Scouting for Food flier drop-off date in the Mohawk, Wisconsin River, and Yahara districts is April 21. Food pickup in those districts is scheduled for April 28th. Scouting for Food in the Indian Trails and Southern Lakes districts if scheduled for November. Units who wish to conduct Scouting for Food on different dates will be supported by the council as much as possible.
